Adding a TexasTail Kitten to Your Family |
What Is a Kitten Reservation? Our kitten reservation list is established on a first come, first serve basis.
We do not require a deposit for your family to be placed on the reservation list. When a litter is born we will contact the first families on the list at which point they will have the option to 'pass' or to reserve one of the kittens in the litter. When you identify a specific kitten we will accept a deposit of $100.00 and you will receive a letter of commitment from us which includes the sale & care contract. How Do I Add my Name to the Reservation List? Click any EMail or Contact TexasTails link. You will be directed to our email. We check email daily and will be in touch with you as soon as possible! How much will my Siberian kitten Cost?: A pet quality kitten is $500.00, the price of a breed or show quality animal will be discussed with you if you are interested in this level of breed participation. If your kitten develops into a show quality animal but you have committed to a pet, so much the better for your family! We do not require that you pay the additional amount or release your reservation for a 'pet' quality kitten from the litter. We expect that many show quality animals will be the loving pets of many families. Why is the Commitment Deposit Required? Due to the increasing popularity of the Siberian and the relatively small number of kittens available annually in the United States there are usually more families than kittens. The majority of breeders find that all of their kittens are reserved well before they are near the release age and often before the litter is even born. The deposit guarantees your kitten and prevents unethical breeding practices. What Is a Care Contract? This is a purchase/sale agreement which defines our health guaruntees and our request for you to care for your Siberian in the most ethical fashion possible. Naturally, we can not mandate issues such as what you feed your kitten or whether or not you declaw, however our agreement clearly states the breeder recommendations that we believe are the best overall insurance that your kitten will live a long and healthy life. The contract will also indicate whether you have purchased your kitten as a 'pet' or with the breeding/show rights. Pet kittens will receive their registration papers when the adoptive family gives proof that the animal has been spayed/nuetered. We do not practice early spaying, you will be responsible for this procedure with your own veterinarian. Breed/show quality kittens will arrive with their registration papers. When/How can my kitten come home? Siberian kittensare not released until 12 weeks of age. This allows kittens to learn important self-care skills from their mother, to be litterbox trained, and for ample socialization prior to seperation from their mom and litter-mates. If you live in proximity to the Houston area we recommend that you personally visit your kitten when you are ready to make a commitment. Then, when he/she is ready to join your family we ask that you come to the cattery so we can have a low-stress transfer. We can also ship a kitten via air, weather permitting, the cost of the ticket will be added to the overall cost of the kitten. If a family lives outside of the Houston area but within reasonable driving distance we would be happy to discuss a meeting perhaps at a halfway point for a personal transfer of the kitten. |
If you do not feel allergies are an issue and do not desire to show or breed, please
consider a shelter kitten. They are typically wonderful kittens and are
in desperate need of loving homes. |
